British producer Tomson is most notably known for his work with the likes of Freerange, Morris Audio and Urban Torque and has developed a distinctive, soul-laden house sound through a string of releases since 2010. Now Tomson has stepped up with production partner Benedict to launch the we_ctrl imprint in 2012, receiving support from artists such as Kerri Chandler, Christopher Rau and Rob Mello to name a few.
As a DJ, Tomson has played alongside luminaries such as Masters at Work, Ron Trent, Lil’ Louis, Danny Krivit, Kerri Chandler, Dixon, Larry Heard and many others, while resident at the infamous Development parties in Manchester, UK.
As a solo artist and alongside regular partner in crime Benedict, Tomson has remixed for artists such as Atjazz, Paris Brightledge, Ronnie Ron, Flowriders and Tone Control. Original productions have followed, on labels such as Freerange, Huddtraxx, Tone Control, Morris Audio, Deepermotions and Development Music among others. Perhaps the most notable single ‘Rainy Things’ on Freerange Records received support and plays from artists ranging from Josh Wink and Laurent Garnier to Deetron and Paul Woolford, who featured the track on his Radio 1 Essential Mix. Tomson’s most recent single ‘Next to Her’ then went on to further BBC Radio 1 airplay, being featured on Mosca’s ‘In New DJs We Trust’ show.
Taking his influences in equal measure from soul and hip hop as deep house and techno, Tomson’s music comfortably morphs together inspirations old and new.
